Digital Access for Rural Learners
The Hillary Sigei Foundation is at the forefront of bridging the digital divide in rural Kenya through its Digital Equity Campaign. This transformative initiative deploys solar-powered internet hubs and tablet learning programs in remote villages, ensuring that learners in marginalized communities gain access to quality digital education.
By providing free connectivity and devices, the foundation empowers rural students to explore global e-learning platforms such as Khan Academy, alongside localized digital curricula aligned with Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). These tools give learners the opportunity to access interactive lessons, educational videos, and digital libraries—resources that were previously out of reach due to infrastructural limitations.
Beyond providing access, the campaign also focuses on digital literacy training for teachers and community facilitators, equipping them with the skills to effectively integrate technology into everyday learning. Powered by renewable energy, the initiative promotes sustainability while ensuring uninterrupted learning, even in areas without electricity.
Through the Digital Equity Campaign, the Hillary Sigei Foundation is not only transforming classrooms but also opening pathways to knowledge, innovation, and opportunity—empowering a new generation of digitally skilled, confident, and self-reliant learners in Kenya’s rural communities.
